Long-term Care that Fulfills Physical, Emotional, and Social Needs

Munson Healthcare’s long-term care is designed to meet all of our residents’ needs, including physical, social, and emotional support.

Because our long-term care facilities are on our hospital campuses, clinical providers and emergency medical care are available 24 hours a day. In addition, our nursing team provides coordinated care around the clock.

In addition to medical care, we provide a full range of services to help you or your loved one with activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and more. Our compassionate staff help residents cultivate independence and maintain physical, emotional, social, and mental well-being.

We have three long-term care locations in northern Michigan:

Respite Care for Caregivers

Caring for a loved one with serious medical conditions at home can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting – both physically and emotionally. Respite care is a way to give caregivers much-needed time to rejuvenate.

At Munson Healthcare’s Paul Oliver Living and Rehabilitation Center, your family member has beautiful accommodations and continuous care while you take some time to catch up with other personal, family, or work matters.

Enhance Well-Being with the Eden Difference

The Eden Alternative® is an international organization founded in the early 1990s that is dedicated to creating a high quality of life for seniors, wherever they live. The Eden philosophy focuses on bringing together seniors and caregivers to collaborate as “care partners.” Together, care partner teams enhance well-being by eliminating three challenges common among seniors: loneliness, helplessness, and boredom.

Munson Healthcare offers an Eden Alternative® environment at its Eden Center adjacent to Kalkaska Memorial Health Center

Enjoy Meaningful Living Experiences

The Green House Project® is a scientifically studied national program for seniors where residential buildings operate like a home. Everyone can enjoy time together in common living spaces that include a living room, dining room, and kitchen area. Staff dedicated to the home build meaningful relationships with residents while meeting their personal care needs and preferences. This unique living environment is only available at six locations in Michigan.

Munson Healthcare opened its first designated Green House adjacent to Kalkaska Memorial Health Center in 2016, featuring private bedrooms and bathrooms along with shared “family” space for cooking, dining, and socializing. The homes are fully licensed to deliver skilled nursing care in a small-scale setting.
