Orthopedic Hands & Wrists Treatment in Northern Michigan
Munson Healthcare’s team of fellowship-trained hand surgeons specialize in complex cases related to the hand, wrist, and forearm, including severe trauma. Their expertise includes micro-neurovascular repair. They are on call around the clock for all levels of hand trauma.
While surgery is indicated for some cases, it often effectively treats wrist and hand conditions through more conservative, non-surgical means.
Carpal Tunnel Surgery
Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the major nerve of the hand is squeezed or compressed as it passes through the carpal tunnel in your wrist. Many carpal tunnel cases can be treated without surgery, but more severe cases might require surgery. Carpal tunnel release surgery eases the compression on your nerves in the carpal tunnel.
Trigger Finger
Trigger finger occurs when the tissue inside your finger or thumb becomes inflamed causing your finger to not bend and straighten normally. Mild cases can be treated without surgery. If the problem is severe, surgery may be needed.
Wrist Fractures
A fractured bone starts to heal on its own right away. But a treatment called reduction may help your wrist heal better. Reduction is a process that repositions your bones with the goal of getting them as close as possible to how they were before the break.
