7th Annual Northern Michigan HIV Virtual Summit May 9
03.30.2022

The 2022 Northern Michigan HIV Virtual Summit is an opportunity to learn about and discuss the state of HIV care across our region. The Thomas Judd Care Center aims to create a growing network of community members, healthcare professionals, social workers, and mental health professionals who are knowledgeable about HIV and can work together to eliminate the barriers to care for individuals living with HIV in Northern Michigan.

This year’s keynote speaker is Peter Gallagher, an award-winning actor and advocate who has appeared in more than 50 films and television shows, including as Nick in Grace and Frankie; Dr. Hamilton on Grey’s Anatomy, Sandy Cohen in The O.C. and Chief Dodds in Law & Order: SVU. He received the Steve Chase Humanitarian Award from The Desert AIDS Project and will discuss his experiences with how HIV/AIDS affected the New York Theater scene in the early 1980s as well as his work with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Other speakers include Benjamin Raap, MPH, HIV MCM, HIV Cancer Coordinator with the Cancer Prevention and Control Section at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Demetre Daskalakis, MD, the CDC’s Director of the Division of HIV Prevention in the National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention.
