Announcing DEI Leadership Task Force

Announcing DEI Leadership Task Force
06.19.2023

At Munson Healthcare (MHC), we believe in a culture where our similarities and differences are respected and celebrated. Our purpose statement is We Improve Lives and fostering an inclusive environment for all people is at the center of our work. In alignment with our new MHC values, we are pleased to announce we have established a DEI Leadership Task Force.

At MHC, we value and embrace what makes each person unique. Patients and employees of MHC deserve equitable care and treatment, and we strive to create safe and trusting environments for all.

MHC honors all individuals regardless of and not limited to race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, religion, neurodiversity, gender identity, physical attributes, veteran status and languages. MHC will demonstrate its commitment through:

  1. Providing equitable care for all patients;
  2. Establishing MHC as an open and non-judgmental place for all;
  3. Being an inclusive and caring organization from our patient’s and employee’s perspectives;
  4. Recruiting and developing a pipeline of talent and retaining a diverse workforce that shares our vision; and
  5. Increasing our commitment to developing meaningful partnerships with community organizations that represent diverse groups in northern Michigan

The MHC DEI Leadership Task Force joins MHC leadership in a commitment to further develop and actualize the vision of inclusivity and equity in healthcare. The Leadership Task Force is made up of MHC Executive Team Members, Providers, Managers, Directors, and Frontline Staff representing a cross-functional group of employees who meet monthly and execute goals around DEI initiatives both internally and in our communities.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce the formation of the DEI Leadership Task Force today, as we recognize Juneteenth. Juneteenth is the annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States after the Civil War. It is fitting that this announcement joins the spirit of diversity, equity and inclusion that is celebrated on this day annually.

As healthcare providers, it is our duty to honor and care for all individuals who come to us for treatment. We look forward to collaborating with you and the communities we serve to bring our vision of inclusivity to life. This is a health imperative for our communities and our employees, and we will improve the quality and safety of our care through this commitment.
