Diabetes Education Open House Set for Nov. 14
10.26.2017

Patients of Munson Medical Center Diabetes Education and Self-Management program are invited to learn about the many resources available to them to help manage their diabetes during an open house from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Suite 210 at the Munson Professional Building.

Diabetes Education Coordinator Tara Rybicki, R.D., C.D.E., said diabetes educators will be on hand to share information about available classes and there will be recipes and food samples to taste. During the open house, visitors can talk with an educator and also enter a drawing to win a Fitbit Flex that can connect to a phone and track sleep and physical activity.

“November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and we encourage those diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes to take advantage of the classes and resources available locally to successfully manage or even prevent the disease,” Rybicki said.

Munson Medical Center’s Diabetes Education office offers pre-diabetes classes, type 1 diabetes education, type 2 diabetes education, gestational diabetes education, and medical nutrition therapy.

During the open house, there will be four separate areas of education tips with topics on physical activity, nutrition, and more.

Munson Medical Center’s Professional Building is located at 1221 Sixth Street. Open house visitors should park in Lot C.
