Public invited to First Christian Church for resources in living with the disease
Residents coping with diabetes or pre-diabetes conditions will find a treasure of resources at a free Diabetes Open House from 5 - 8 p.m. on Nov. 10 at First Christian Church in Traverse City.
The event is sponsored by Munson Healthcare Diabetes Education and the Northern Michigan Diabetes Initiative.
Participants will learn the latest information on medications, heart health, community resources, and more. Munson Medical Center certified diabetes educators will be on hand to answer questions. There also will be diabetes exhibits and vendors.
Chef Laura McCain, RD, CDE, will offer a cooking demonstration and former NFL player Kendall Simmons, a member of the 2005 Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, will share how to integrate diabetes management into one’s life and ambitions.
November is Diabetes Awareness Month.
First Christian Church is located at 3686 S. Airport Road in Traverse City.
