Patients of 3 MHC primary care practices were surveyed as part of a local research study — Tobacco Cessation Motivations, Preferences, and Barriers Among Rural Smokers: Implications for Optimizing Referrals in Clinical Practice — published in the AJPM (American Journal of Preventive Medicine) Focus.

Findings suggest provider referrals to nicotine replacement medications and reward-based approaches can be used to enhance tobacco cessation among rural smokers.

Congratulations to the 2 MHC members of the research team: Kelly A. Hirko, PhD and Patti Moore, RN!
