Munson Healthcare to Launch New Virtual Urgent Care on Thurs., March 10

To help expand our communities’ access to urgent care services, Munson Healthcare is launching a new Virtual Urgent Care on Thursday, March 10.

The new Virtual Urgent Care will:

• Meet growing demand from our patients and community members by offering quick and convenient virtual urgent care access
• Keep local patients connected with the MHC system and their primary care provider (PCP) so that they’re not seeking virtual urgent care services outside our region, i.e., other healthcare systems and payers
• Provide alternate access for patients needing urgent medical advice to decompress our busy emergency rooms, walk-in clinics, and urgent cares
• Provide after-hours support to PCPs
• Help connect patients without a PCP to a provider who is accepting new patients and their insurance

Patients will have quick access to a Munson Healthcare medical staff provider* for low-acuity, urgent care type conditions including:

• Abrasions
• Allergies
• Cold
• Cough
• Diarrhea
• Flu
• Insect Bites
• Pink Eye
• Painful Urination
• Skin Rash
• Sore Throat
• Sprains and Strains
• Sinus Infection

Most insurance plans cover virtual urgent care. Patients can also elect to self-pay at a rate of $75 per appointment.

MHC Virtual Urgent Care Patient Process

1. Patient calls the MHC Virtual Urgent Care at 231-935-4995 and is connected to a nurse (through Ask-A-Nurse).
2. Nurse triages patient to the appropriate care setting based on condition (i.e., ED, primary care provider, in-person urgent care, virtual urgent care):

• Patients will be offered to connect with their PCP for non-life threatening conditions.
• When appropriate and patient has virtual visit capabilities (computer, Wi-Fi access), patient may be referred to a virtual urgent care visit.

3. Ask-a-Nurse will send a text to the patient that includes a link for registration via video visit.
4. Patient has video visit with a Munson Healthcare medical staff provider* (DO, MD, NP, PA) via Doxy.me.
5. Provider sends post-visit information to patient’s PCP.

*Service is staffed by both employed and independent providers who are members of Munson Healthcare’s medical staff.

MHC Virtual Urgent Care Hours

• Monday – Wednesday, 7 am – 4 pm
• Thursday and Friday, 7 am – 10 pm
• Saturday and Sunday, 8 am – 6 pm
