Munson Healthcare President and CEO Ed Ness announced today that Alicia Maitland has been named chief financial officer for Munson Healthcare. She will be taking over the role from Mark Hepler who is retiring at the end of month.
Maitland joined Munson Healthcare in August of 2012 as the director of financial planning and operations. In 2015, she was promoted to corporate controller and then promoted again in 2016 to vice president of finance and corporate controller for Munson Healthcare and chief financial officer for Munson Medical Center.
Prior to joining Munson Healthcare, she spent 11 years at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago where she held various corporate leadership roles and seven years at Deloitte in the tri-state region (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) and Chicago metropolitan area, where she specialized in the healthcare industry.
“Alicia’s progressive experience and broad expertise have positioned her well for this role,” Ness said. “I am confident that her leadership will help drive our strategic vision and goals forward in this continually changing industry.”
Maitland is a certified public accountant and received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College. She is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and serves on the board of Venture North, a community development financial institution in Traverse City.
“I am thrilled to take on this expanded role at Munson Healthcare, an organization that has such a proud history,” Maitland said. “In this rapidly evolving environment, my job will be to make sure the complexities of healthcare finance are understandable to all and we are financially positioned to drive thoughtful positive change so we can continue to make an impact in northern Michigan. It is a privilege to be part of this team and serve our communities.”
