Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital was recently named a 2022 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in the nation by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
The hospital was one of just three to be recognized with the status in the state.
“Despite the ongoing pandemic, our staff and physicians continue to focus on providing high-quality care to our community,” said Joanne Schroeder, president and CEO of Charlevoix Hospital. “This recognition confirms what many in Charlevoix already know – that they can trust this team with their health needs. We’re grateful for the honor.”
The Chartis Group, a healthcare advisory and analytics firm, based in Portland, Maine has developed its Hospital Strength INDEX® to determine the top hospitals based entirely on public data and utilizing 36 independent indicators, the INDEX assesses rural hospitals across eight pillars of performance, including market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial efficiency.
Despite unprecedented adversity brought about by the rural hospital closure crisis, diminishing access to services such as obstetrics, nurse staffing shortages and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, rural providers continue to display resiliency and a steadfast commitment to their communities,” said Michael Topchik, national leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “Honoring the Top 100 is one of the highpoints of our year. We are delighted to recognize the exceptional performance and innovation of this year’s recipients, particularly in light of the extraordinary challenges facing America’s rural health safety net.”
