Ordering 3D Mammography Screening

Ordering 3D Mammography Screening
05.18.2023

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has lowered its age recommendation from 50 to 40 for biennial breast cancer screening for women with an average risk.

The American College of Radiology (ACR), Society of Breast Imaging (SBI), and Grand Traverse Radiologists PC currently recommend annual 3D screening mammography beginning at age 40 for women at average risk. Our mammography screening guidelines and breast imaging order guidelines have not changed.

Advanced 3D mammography is available at all MHC screening locations, including Indian River and Prudenville that went live with 3D imaging on May 12.

Please ask your practice manager to set 3D as the default orderable for mammography in your office’s electronic health record.
