08.14.2015

Provider checking on patient West Shore Healthcare Foundation recently awarded a $500 scholarship to Gina Hodges, RT(R)(M)(CT), courtesy of the Bull Scholarship Fund. The scholarship funds can be used to offset the cost of tuition and books.

“I am honored to have been chosen for the scholarship,” said Hodges. “I am passionate about providing excellent health care and thankful to have this assistance to improve the skills that allow me to help others.” Hodges, a registered technologist trained in multiple modalities, has been with West Shore Medical Center for nearly 10 years and is currently the Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor. She is attending Ferris State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in allied health sciences. “It is wonderful to work in an organization that is dedicated to providing the latest technology and best in service to the community,” she said.

The endowed scholarship was established in 2012 by Manistee County residents John and Karon Bull to support the continuing education of health care providers at West Shore Medical Center. The scholarship opportunity is available to any West Shore employee seeking education to further a career in a patient care field. Each year, West Shore Healthcare Foundation’s scholarship committee reviews applications from employees throughout the hospital.

“Gina’s commitment to compassionate care and community education are tremendous assets to West Shore Medical Center,” said Rachel L. Brooks, Executive Director of West Shore Healthcare Foundation. “The scholarship committee was impressed by her leadership and enthusiasm.”
