At Munson Healthcare, we are constantly evaluating the healthcare needs of our community and determining how best to serve our patients.
Breast cancer rates are increasing steadily, especially in women under the age of 50 – and breast cancer prevalence is higher than normal in many Northern Michigan counties. The unfortunate reality is that nearly everyone knows someone impacted by this disease.
Munson is committed to providing the most advanced tools and resources available for the early detection, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer. That’s why we are proud to offer 3D mammography technology in all our locations throughout Northern Michigan.
Late last year, Munson began accepting self-referrals for annual screening mammograms. This year, our goal is to implement screening tools to help determine which patients have an elevated risk of breast cancer.
We can’t do this work without the support of our community.
Bringing this technology to our program will allow for truly comprehensive breast health services at Munson, including a robust monitoring program individualized to the specific needs of high-risk patients.

In addition to equipment needs, there is an ongoing need for support of Munson Healthcare Hospice, Munson Manor Hospitality House, and the Munson Healthcare Patient Needs Fund. These services and funds support patients and families all across northern Michigan.
