PGY-2 Pharmacy Infectious Diseases Residency

Munson Medical Center (MMC) Department of Pharmacy is proud to offer a one-year PGY2 Infectious Diseases (ID) Pharmacy Residency.

Overview  

The purpose of this program is to train pharmacists to be experts in the management of infectious diseases pharmacotherapy and antimicrobial stewardship by working closely with the ID pharmacist and ID physicians at MMC.  As adjunctive faculty for Ferris State University College of Pharmacy, the resident will gain valuable teaching experience not only in the classroom, but also in the clinical setting as a preceptor in training for P4 students and PGY1 residents.  In addition to the experience at MMC, the resident will have the opportunity to participate in off-site learning experiences in adult transplant ID and pediatric ID.  The PGY2 resident will also serve as chief resident and mentor of the PGY1 pharmacy practice residents at MMC.

As Munson Healthcare continues to grow into a 9-hospital system spread across lower Northern Michigan, so too must the antimicrobial stewardship services.  As a member of Antimicrobial Stewardship Team at MMC, the resident will be an active participant in the development and implementation of these services across the health system.

ASHP Accreditation status: last accredited January 2017.

Program Summary

Residency Positions Available:

One resident is accepted each year.

Beginning Date:

The first Monday on or after July 1. (Residents must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of Michigan no later than August 1.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Eligible applicants must have graduated from an accredited college of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and successfully completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency.
