30th Annual National Cancer Survivors’ Day includes wellness activities for all

The 30th Annual National Cancer Survivors Day Picnic expands this year to include a wellness fair open to the public.

The event is planned for Sunday, June 25, from 3 - 6 p.m. in the Cowell Family Cancer Center parking lot under the tent. The picnic will include information on preventing and surviving cancer. Featured speakers include Munson Medical Center oncologists, cancer center lead donor Casey Cowell, and Bill Couzens, founder of Less Cancer.

Visitors to the picnic will be able to enjoy free massages, exercise classes, music, nature walks, a kid’s activity tent and much more. Food will be provided by the Sprout Café. Cancer survivors will receive a special gift.

More than 40 area health and wellness partners will host information tables. Some of the participants include Center for Plastic Surgery, Edson Farms, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Light of Day Tea, Norte!, Oryana, Peace Ranch, Press On Juice, and Yoga for Health.

Cyclists participating in a fundraiser with Less Cancer will complete a bike ride from Detroit at the event. Area residents are invited to ride along for the last mile or 14 miles. There is still time to join the ride. Interested participants should call the Cowell Family Cancer Center’s Health and Wellness Suite at 231-392-8492.

The Cowell Family Cancer Center is located at 217 S. Madison St. in Traverse City.
