Our Commitment to Promoting Health for All
At Munson Healthcare (MHC), we believe in a culture where our similarities and differences are respected and celebrated. Our purpose statement is "We Improve Lives," and fostering an inclusive environment for all people is centered in our work.
At MHC, we value and embrace what makes each human being unique. Patients and employees of MHC deserve fair and just treatment whenever they walk through our doors, and we want to create an environment of inclusivity for all.
MHC has a duty to honor all individuals regardless of and not limited to race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, religion, neurodiversity, gender, physical attributes, and languages. MHC will demonstrate its commitment through:
- Providing fair and just care to all patients regardless of their unique qualities;
- Establishing MHC as an open and non-judgmental place for all;
- Being an inclusive and caring organization from our patient's and employee's perspectives;
- Recruiting and developing a pipeline of talent and retaining a diverse workforce that shares our vision; and
- Increasing our commitment to developing meaningful partnerships with all community organizations, including those that represent diverse groups in northern Michigan.
MHC established a Health Equity Council in 2024. The MHC Health Equity Council joins MHC leadership in a commitment to further develop and actualize the vision of inclusivity. The Leadership Task Force is made up of MHC Executive Team Members, Providers, Managers, Directors, and Frontline Staff representing a cross-functional group of employees and leaders who meet regularly to address the execution of strategic solution-focused objectives for caring for all communities.
