08.07.2024

The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club meeting for August will be a special event featuring an inspirational speaker from Spokes Fighting Strokes at its meeting 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center in Traverse City. The Civic Center is located at 1213 W. Civic Center Dr.

Dan Zimmerman, founder of Spokes Fighting Strokes, has been touring the United States helping stroke survivors on their path to recovery across the nation through recumbent cycling. Dan’s inspirational story of recovery will be shared along with information on how to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

The meeting also serves as the annual potluck. Paper products will be provided, and members should bring a dish to pass and a beverage.

New and former members of the stroke club are invited to attend.

Melinda Hollands, L.M.S.W., with Munson Medical Center’s Patient Care Management Department, will facilitate the club meeting. For more information, please contact Hollands at 231-935-6380.

The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club is open to the public and meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The group offers stroke survivors and support persons the opportunity to learn, share, and connect through speakers, demonstrations, and discussions.
