Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital is grateful to CAPE (Child Abuse Prevention and Education) Council for their generous donation of sleep sacks and Pack 'n Plays to our Labor and Delivery department.
This year, CAPE donated 156 cotton and 84 fleece sleep sacks to Charlevoix Hospital, ensuring that families have access to essential tools that support safe sleep for their newborns. Additionally, CAPE contributed 10 Pack 'n Plays to help families who may not have immediate access to a crib, ensuring every baby has a safe space to sleep.
The donation of sleep sacks to Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital, and other locations in the three-county coverage area of the CAPE Council, was provided as part of a collaborative effort between CAPE, Regions 2 & 3 Perinatal Quality Collaborative, and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, whose funding has made this initiative possible. Together, these organizations are working to ensure that safe sleep information and tools are accessible to all families across Northern Michigan.
“Safe sleep protocols can help prevent infant deaths due to sleep-related causes,” said Lisa Clavier, Director of CAPE Council. “There are steps that all caregivers should know to help create a safe sleep environment for babies. The A, B, C’s of safe sleep—Baby sleeping Alone, on their Back, and in a Certified safe crib, bassinet, or Pack 'n Play—are critical. All caregivers should be reminded of these safety measures when caring for an infant.”
Charlevoix Hospital is committed to ensuring that every baby born in our community is given the best possible start in life. We are incredibly thankful for CAPE’s continued support and their dedication to promoting safe sleep environments for all newborns.
