Congratulations to Gary Rajah, MD, who recently co-authored the following clinical journal article in Neurotherapeutics:
Highlights:
- Despite advancements in stroke treatment, many stroke survivors still face disabilities.
- This study evaluated the safety and potential efficacy of intravenous Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN) as a neuroprotective agent in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients.
- While overall 90-day disability scores did not significantly differ between GTN and control groups, the GTN-treated group showed enhanced recovery in National Institutes of Health Stroke scores, particularly in non-thrombolysis patients and those with mild stroke symptoms.
- The study suggests the safety and feasibility of GTN administration in AIS patients and hints at its potential as a tailored intervention in specific stroke subgroups, though larger trials are needed for confirmation.
