Five Munson Healthcare hospitals received recognition today from the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health and iVantage Health Analytics for performance excellence.

Nearly 1,300 rural hospitals nationally were recognized in one or more of four categories with 77 rural hospitals in Michigan among them. Hospital performance was measured in Quality, Outcomes, Patient Satisfaction and Financial Strength as compared to all acute care hospitals in the nation.

Mackinac Straits Health System and Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital for excellence in patient satisfaction; Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital and Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital for excellence in outcomes; and Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital for excellence in quality and excellence in financial strength.

“Offering residents across northern Michigan access to quality health care close to home is something our organization strives for daily,” said Ed Ness, president and CEO of Munson Healthcare. “We’re thankful for this recognition that again affirms the efforts of staff and physicians on behalf of our patients as well as the leadership of our hospital board members as they thoughtfully meet the health care challenges in their communities.”

The national rankings have been determined through the Hospital Strength INDEX, the industry’s most objective and comprehensive assessment of rural hospital performance. In partnership with the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health, iVantage Health Analytics developed this data-driven program to identify excellence across a broad spectrum of indicators relevant to hospital performance and patient care.
