Money to come from board-designated endowment funds

The Mercy Hospital Cadillac Foundation board plans to grant $1.1 million from its board-designated endowment funds to support three vital projects to enhance patient care at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital.

The funds, under the stewardship of Trinity Health, will be used to acquire state-of-the-art imaging equipment and expand the hospital’s rehabilitation department.

“These projects are considered a top priority for the hospital,” said Tonya Smith, president of Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. “Maintaining strong, high quality outpatient services such as diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation are exactly what we should be doing to best serve our community.”

The Pell Imaging Center, named for the late Harvey Pell, will see $850,000 in upgrades –  $250,000 to acquire a new digital mammography unit to replace a refurbished unit acquired by the hospital in 2008, and an additional $600,000 in new equipment to upgrade the center’s existing X-ray/fluoroscopy room to all-digital technology.

The hospital also will benefit from a $250,000 grant toward a $350,000 expansion of the hospital’s Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation department. The Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital Foundation plans to raise funds for the remaining $100,000 necessary to complete the project.

“We are very pleased to approve these projects to sustain and enhance patient care at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital and are grateful to Harvey Pell and John Outen for their legacy of generous giving to our community hospital,” said Greg Glasby, chair of the Mercy Hospital Cadillac Foundation.

All equipment purchases and improvements are planned for the 2016 fiscal year.
