Getting to Know: Angela Gee, Munson Healthcare Medical Staff Office Lead | East Region

What brought you to Munson Healthcare?
After moving to East Jordan from downstate 24 years ago, I worked at Munson Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist. After a year of 12-hour night shifts with a 70-minute drive each way, I jumped at an opportunity to work at Charlevoix Hospital and have been here for 20 years. In that time, I have transitioned from Respiratory Therapy to Quality and now I’ve been in the Medical Staff Office for the past 3 years.

What has living and working during a pandemic taught you?
Working remotely has been a blessing as I find I’m happier, more productive, and am learning to find a work/life balance. This pandemic has also shown me to extend grace to all by respecting varying opinions and encouraging each person to make their own informed decisions.

What do you love most about your work?
I have an incredible peer group in the Medical Staff Office that make this job even better. They truly are amazing!

What do you think is most beneficial about the recent regionalization of the Medical Staff Office (MSO) role?
Although it is a work in progress, over time it will provide a streamlined approach to regional knowledge with one centralized contact person. Together as an MSO group, we have developed more efficient workflows and standard processes.

How would you describe the people of Munson Healthcare?
Persevering. We are all in the same boat and working hard to paddle together.

What are you most passionate about outside of work?
As a generally positive person, I like to remind others they are enough as we all forget that and need to be reminded sometimes, including myself. I try to be a safe, sounding board for others to release pent up frustration.

What might we be surprised to learn about you?
I am a licensed respiratory therapist, licensed nail technician, and certified Revelation Wellness instructor.

What is your favorite piece of advice to give friends and colleagues?
Always give gracious assumptions and laugh as much as you breathe.
