When the chores and demands of life become too much, explore a local solution

Coming home for the holidays to make and enjoy memories sometimes means helping dad shovel the snow and mom make the meals. Should the challenges of shoveling and the demands of housekeeping become something more than a chore for parents, Kalkaska Memorial Assisted Living offers a local and attractive alternative.

“We welcome residents from any area and we provide all the conveniences of home in a beautiful worry-free environment,” said Barbara Hulwick, R.N., nursing director at the facility.

The facility offers apartment living with access to 24-hour assistance if needed. Residents all have individualized service plans that can include medication management, appointment coordination, and personal care and assistance.

All residents enjoy apartments that include kitchenettes, barrier-free bathrooms, cable TV, local phone service, housekeeping and laundry service, and an emergency wireless call system.

Community space includes two fireplaces, a great room for meals and entertaining, indoor and outdoor porches, a library, café for socializing, movies, and more. A private room also is available to rent for birthday parties and family gatherings.

“Residents can enjoy long-term, short-term, or seasonal stays,” Hulwick said. “We also offer an active social calendar, scheduled outings, and residents may have pets with prior approval.”

The facility is licensed by the state of Michigan as a home for the aged.
