Manistee Health and Fitness Center, formerly The Health Connection, has reopened in new space at the Munson Healthcare Manistee Community Center.
The full-service fitness facility offers group fitness classes, flexible membership options, and certified instructors and exercise specialists.
“We are excited to be in this brand new facility and continue our mission to help members on their fitness journeys,” said Dursa Marshall, manager of the facility. “We offer a wide range of group classes designed to meet the needs of a wide range of ages and abilities.”
The facility has a variety of exercise equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, elliptical trainers, stationary bicycles, and weight machines for all major muscle groups. There is also a free-weight room.
Televisions for remote headphone use are being installed, and the facility features attractive shower and locker room space.
The health and fitness center is open to the public and can also be part of a coordinated exercise plan prescribed through Manistee Hospital provider offices. Exercise specialists can evaluate medical histories and help develop long-term, and short-term goals. They can determine target heart-rate range, analyze body fat composition, and conduct fitness testing for strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular health.
Group fitness classes such as yoga, step and flexibility are included with membership. Aqua classes at the Paine Aquatic Center are offered seasonally for an additional fee.
