To align Radiology best practices across Munson Healthcare, Manistee Hospital's CT department will implement the current standards for eGFR requirements for IV contrast exams.
Effective Monday, April 1, patients who have at least 1 risk factor listed below will be required to obtain a serum creatinine/eGFR prior to scheduling their intravascular (IV) contrast CT scan.
Risk factors requiring eGFR within 30 days of CT IV contrast exam (≥1):
- ≥60 years of age (60+)
- Diabetes
- Hypertension requiring medical therapy
- History of renal disease: dialysis, kidney transplant, single kidney, renal cancer, renal surgery
Key Points
-
Laboratory results must be obtained within 30 days of the scheduled exam.
-
Please ensure a written/electronic lab order is available for the patient to obtain their labs.
-
For CT exams requiring IV contrast, the patient will NOT be scheduled until laboratory results are available if patient meets ≥1 risk factor.
-
If testing is not performed at a Munson Healthcare lab, please provide a copy of the results with the written order.
