Manistee Hospital Transitioning to Centralized Switchboard on April 5

Manistee Hospital Transitioning to Centralized Switchboard on April 5
03.30.2022

Munson Healthcare is continuing the process of centralizing system switchboard services at an off-campus location in Traverse City.* This change provides a more standard, consistent approach across the system, supporting our strategic goal “Integrate Operations.” More specifically, there will be one daily call calendar for the system, a standard paging process, and a system database with up-to-date information to direct internal and external customers.

Key Points

  • The transition will be seamless for callers, as they will be transferred to patients/departments in the same way they always have.
  • Your local Switchboard phone number isn’t changing.
  • Your switchboard message, overhead paging, and codes will remain the same.
  • Provider paging will be sent to an approved Munson paging device using standard protocol, referencing on on-call calendars. Switchboard will use alternate communication means if pages are not answered after 2nd attempt, including cell, home, and office numbers listed in the provider’s profile. • Your facility’s pager replacement and troubleshooting process will remain the same.
  • NOTE: A combined on-call calendar is now in effect for the 5 hospitals that have transitioned to the centralized switchboard. It can be accessed on the MHC Intranet either by clicking on MHC Daily On Call Schedule under Tools & Resources or by clicking on Smart Web then On Call.

The first community hospitals to transition to this new model were Cadillac Hospital, Grayling Hospital, and Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital. Manistee Hospital transitions on April 5, with Charlevoix Hospital and Otsego Memorial Hospital to follow. As each transition date approaches, we will communicate to providers and staff.
