Mary Free Bed at Munson Healthcare Director Jill Slagal said the organizations have collaborated to bring physical rehabilitation services to the YMCA’s westside location.
“The YMCA is a natural place to offer these services and we currently have similar programs in Grand Rapids,” Slagal said. “We appreciate the YMCA’s focus on health and wellness. This partnership allows even those who are not members a convenient place to receive care as well as an opportunity to experience what the YMCA has to offer.”
Grand Traverse Bay YMCA CEO Andrew Page sees plenty of potential to the partnership.
“We are excited with our newly formed partnership with Mary Free Bed and the mutual benefits it will provide our Y members as well as the clients the physical therapy clinic will serve,” he said. “The combination of Mary Free Bed’s expertise coupled with the proven and impactful wellness services the Y provides will only further enhance the needs of our community. We are confident these mutual benefits will lead to more services and collaborations in the near future.”
As with other physical therapy services offered by Mary Free Bed at Munson Healthcare, residents need an order from their primary care provider or other physician for medical insurance to cover treatments. They do not need to have a YMCA membership to access the clinic.
Mary Free Bed physical therapists at the YMCA offer help with sports rehabilitation, orthopedic treatments, balance issues, neck-and-back pain, and pre- and post-operation recovery.
Patients also can benefit from the bridge program, which provides a one month pass to the YMCA, including three complimentary sessions with a YMCA coach in the wellness center, in hopes of creating an individualized exercise program.
Mary Free Bed at Munson Healthcare hours at the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA - West are Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; and Fridays from 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA - West is located at 3700 Silver Lake Road in Traverse City.
Mary Free Bed at Munson Healthcare also offers rehabilitation services at Chums Corner, Foster Family Community Health Center, Long Lake, and the Spine Center in Traverse City. Services are also available in Elk Rapids and Kingsley.
