Seven medical specialties bring health care close to home at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital.
Hospital President Peter Marinoff said it makes sense that area residents do not have to drive to find the expertise they need.
“As part of Munson Healthcare, we are fortunate to have access to some the best medical specialists in the nation,” he said. “We think hosting them here provides our residents with great access to quality care and in many instances saves our residents the need to travel outside of the community.”
Following is a list of the specialties, services and local availability:
Cardiology – Traverse Heart and Vascular cardiologist Dino Recchia, M.D., FACC; nurse practitioner Edward Kraska, N.P.; and physician assistant Adam Leech, P.A.-C, offer cardiology services two Thursdays a month. Services include EKGs, medical evaluations, pre- and post-evaluation for heart procedures, follow-up appointments for cardiac catheter procedures, and pacemaker checks. Dermatology – Associates in Dermatology providers Raymond Dean, M.D.; Joan Griner, M.D.; Jeffrey Kelly, D.O., and physician assistant Amber Baker, P.A.-C, offer dermatology services from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Mondays. Services include diagnosis and treatment for all types of skin cancer, skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, and psoriasis. Gastroenterology – Digestive Health Associates physicians of Traverse City hold clinics at the hospital on Thursdays. They perform some procedures at the hospital including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopies. For an appointment, call 231-935-5710.
Ophthalmology – Martin S. Arkin, M.D., of Bay Eye Associates in Traverse City, holds a clinic at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital on Mondays. He performs evaluations and treatment as well as surgeries such as cataracts and corneal transplants at the hospital. For an appointment, call 231-935-0630.
Orthopedics – Orthopedic surgeon Michael J. Peters II, D.O., of Great Lakes Orthopaedic Center in Traverse City holds clinics the first Wednesday of every month at the hospital. Physical Medicine – Karen L. Meyer, D.O., of Northshore Rehab in Traverse City, offers a clinic the second Wednesday of every month. She offers electrodiagnostic medicine and injections. For an appointment, call 231-947-5071.
Podiatry – Podiatrist David Sheldon, DPM, of Traverse City, offers a clinic every Tuesday at the hospital. Services include nail trimming, nail fungus treatment, diabetes shoe fitting, and minor surgeries. For an appointment, call 231-946-9122.
