Munson Healthcare Encourages Safe Holiday Gatherings
05.27.2022

Munson Healthcare encourages the residents of northern Michigan to enjoy the Memorial Day holiday weekend while recognizing that COVID-19 remains a concern.

Munson Healthcare Chief Medical Officer Christine Nefcy, M.D., FAAP, said positivity rates in the region remain high in some counties and while census in hospitals is stable, the availability of critical care beds remains concerning.

“This weekend signifies the real start to summer and often involves gatherings and celebrations,” she said. “We’re asking community members to please do so safely.”

Residents are encouraged to check their local COVID-19 positivity rate at Michigan.gov/coronavirus.

Important precautions to keep COVID-19 from resurging in the region include masking in crowded spaces, social distancing at least six feet, and practicing good hand hygiene through alcohol-based sanitizers and frequent washing with soap and water.
