Munson Healthcare Foundations has set an ambitious goal: to raise $100,000 on Tuesday, Nov. 30, in support of healthcare for the people of northern Michigan.
This day, more commonly known as Giving Tuesday, is recognized each year on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The initiative launched in 2012 as a way to celebrate the collective generosity of communities worldwide.
“Times are certainly challenging for our hospitals and healthcare team, but our commitment to enhancing care for our patients remains as strong as ever,” shared Debra Henderson, president of Munson Healthcare Foundations. “This mission is only possible with generous support from our community.”
As a nonprofit healthcare system, charitable support ensures Munson Healthcare can invest in critical upgrades, new technology, and innovative equipment. Most importantly, philanthropy makes it possible for the healthcare system to continue offering top-quality healthcare services close to home.
A matching gift agreement offers additional incentive for donors to participate in Giving Tuesday 2021. The first $80,000 in donations made on Nov. 30 will be matched, dollar for dollar, doubling the impact of these donations.
“No matter the size of your gift, we are incredibly grateful for your support of our patients, healthcare team, and hospitals on this important day,” Henderson said. “Every dollar makes a direct and lasting impact in the lives of our neighbors and loved ones.”
In 2020, $2.47 billion was donated to nonprofit organizations in the United States – a 25 percent increase from the previous year – and garnered the support of more than 33.1 million individuals across the nation. Even higher numbers are predicted for 2021.
Munson Healthcare hospitals participating in Giving Tuesday include Cadillac Hospital, Charlevoix Hospital, Grayling Hospital, Manistee Hospital, Munson Medical Center, Otsego Memorial Hospital, and Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital.
