As a partner in community health, every year Munson Healthcare offers a virtual presentation on stroke, a disease that each year impacts the lives of more than 750,000 Americans. The stroke awareness discussion will stream live on Wednesday, November 29 from 10 to 11 a.m. on Munson Healthcare’s Facebook page: facebook.com/MunsonCares. Time will be set aside for questions from the public.

David P. Rosenbaum-HaLevi, M.D., who specializes in Vascular Neurology and Interventional Neuroradiology, and Neurosurgeon Gary Rajah, M.D., medical director for the hospital’s endovascular stroke program, will discuss stroke prevention tips, warning signs, and stroke treatment options at an upcoming virtual event. The presentation will also cover the very latest news about Munson Healthcare’s stroke program, which is among the busiest in the state of Michigan.

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association reports that stroke is the fifth-leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the United States. On average, someone in the U.S. suffers a stroke every 40 seconds. Based on data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Michigan has the sixth-highest age adjusted death rate for stroke in the nation.

Earlier this year, Munson Medical Center received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Award, with Stroke Honor Roll Elite designation for the 10th consecutive year. Munson Healthcare’s provider recruiting efforts and investment in cutting-edge technology over the last three years now makes it possible to perform any type of stroke intervention, saving precious minutes and keeping patients close to home.
