Munson Healthcare Names Primary Care Service Line Medical Director
05.04.2022

Munson Healthcare has named Peter Tucker, M.D., as the medical director for the primary care service line.

A new position, Dr. Tucker’s role will be to provide visionary and strategic physician perspective on the direction of healthcare delivery. He will work closely with Munson Healthcare employed physician network primary care practices to ensure quality, continuity, efficiency, and effectiveness of patient care consistent with the highest standards of care.

Munson Healthcare continues its work in integrating the community hospitals and owned provider clinics into the healthcare system. Part of this work includes implementing a new two-pronged approach for the management of service lines and provider clinics. Combining the unique qualifications and experiences of clinical and non-clinical leaders aims to create productive and efficient patient care and business models.

In this dyad model, physician leaders focus on the patient experience and clinical aspects of the medical practice while non-clinical managers focus on the business or operational side. The goal is to foster a culture of collaboration with physicians and staff, together driving process improvement, clinical excellence, and accountability.

Dr. Tucker is a graduate of the University of California, San Francisco. He is board-certified in both Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care. Additionally, Dr. Tucker holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. Dr. Tucker served as flight surgeon in the United States Air Force, and Associate Hospice Medical Director at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and at Henry Ford Health System. He was the Chief of Family Medicine and Medical Director of the Primary Care Network as well as Family Medicine Residency Director at Beaumont Health.

Dr. Tucker joined Munson Healthcare in June 2020 as a Hospice and Palliative Care physician. He will transition into his new role in mid-June.

Additional service lines at Munson Healthcare will be adopting a dyad model of management during the upcoming year.
