Munson Healthcare System Director of Safety and Security John Bolde recently was selected by the Michigan Safety Conference for the “Daryl C. Hill Safety Professional of the Year” award honoring a Michigan safety or health professional who has made a positive impact on safety and health in the state.

The award was presented in Lansing at the Michigan Safety Conference.

Bolde has been with Munson Healthcare for 20 years and has responsibility for employee and environmental safety which includes a goal of “zero harm.” He also leads security for all Munson Healthcare properties including leadership of security staff, as well as emergency management which involves preparing for and responding to any emergencies or disasters.

“I have such high regard for the Michigan Safety Conference,” Bolde said. “The MSC is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the improvement of workplace safety across all disciplines in the State of Michigan. I am very grateful to my peers who nominated me for this award. It is truly an honor.”

The Michigan Safety Conference provides participants with quality workplace health and safety education through an annual conference that attracts one of the nation’s highest attendance ratings of safety professionals.

Bolde said he has been a member of the Michigan Healthcare Safety Association for 20 years and has served two terms as its president. He has also worked with the Michigan Health and Hospital Association on emergency management and workplace violence presentations, and employee safety initiatives.

“I am fortunate to work in a profession that resonates with my own values around safety and self-responsibility, calls for personal and professional stretch goals, and gives me the opportunity to lead and help develop safety culture through teamwork and accountability,” he said.
