Munson Medical Center Seeks Volunteer Candidates
10.24.2018

Munson Medical Center Volunteer Services has immediate openings for ambassadors, patient escorts, and Cowell Family Cancer Center concierges.

“Our volunteers are passionate people who have a knack for making a great first impression, helping patients immediately feel comfortable, and maintaining strict confidentiality,” said Theresa Stachnik, manager of Volunteer Services. “Volunteers are an integral part of our family at Munson Medical Center because they’re often the first people our patients see and interact with. Volunteering with us is truly a commitment, but the rewards of helping community members during a vulnerable time are immeasurable.”

Munson Medical Center is currently seeking volunteers for three key positions, each with its own set of responsibilities and qualifications:

Volunteer Ambassadors assist patients, visitors and staff throughout the hospital and Munson Professional Building with quality customer service. Stachnik stressed that patience, courtesy, empathy, discretion, and a willingness to go the extra mile are the qualities Volunteer Services looks for in their ambassadors.

Ambassadors must able to physically transport patients by wheelchair, provide an escort for patients or visitors to their destination in a respectful and professional manner, comfortably answer questions or re-direct to staff, and give clear directions.

Ambassador Services assist in four-hour shifts Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

CFCC Concierge Volunteers are needed at Cowell Family Cancer Center, where they’ll play an important role in assisting patients and visitors with directions, escorting, and transporting. Volunteers must be able-bodied and should have people skills, be comfortable working with the cancer center entrance staff, and the ability to maintain total discretion at all times.

CFCC Concierge help in three-hour shifts Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Volunteer Patient Escorts transport discharged patients by wheelchair from their rooms to the hospital lobby greeter station. This position requires being comfortable with using an iPhone, interacting with people, and having no physical limitations.

Patient Escort Service volunteers work four-hour shifts Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Please call Volunteer Services for available shifts at 231-935-5129 or 231-935-7455.

Volunteer candidates will be interviewed by Volunteer Services to determine appropriate service placement and shift ability. All volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of six months. An orientation program and specific training will be provided.

“This is a great place for those who really enjoy interacting with and helping people and want to give back to the community in a very special way,” Stachnik said. “We look forward to meeting prospective candidates to discover how we can put their great people skills to use.”
