Munson Healthcare Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory Services recently received accreditation from the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists following an on-site inspection.

The College of American Pathologists is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program and certifies the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. There are more than 8,000 facilities worldwide accredited by the organization.

Paul Oliver’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer Kristi Johnson said the accreditation affirms the high level of services offered by the hospital’s Lab staff, led by Medical Director Neil R. Bavikatty, M.D.

“I am so proud of the team and their hard work, professionalism, and commitment for maintaining our lab as a top-notch service,” she said. “Our community is blessed to have their caliber of service available.”

During the accreditation process, College of American Pathologist inspectors examined laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, the Lab’s safety program and record, and overall management.
