In June 2023, Munson Healthcare signed a system-wide contract with SCP Health to provide Emergency Medicine Services with the goal of delivering an improved, consistent patient experience in our emergency departments across the system.
Munson Healthcare goes live with SCP Health at the following locations:

- Charlevoix Hospital: March 1, 2024
- Grayling Hospital: Nov. 1, 2023
- Manistee Hospital: Nov. 1, 2023
- Munson Medical Center: July 1, 2024

John Baldwin, DO — Emergency Medicine Medical Director, Cadillac and Grayling John Baldwin, DO, has accepted the role of Emergency Medicine Medical Director for both Cadillac and Grayling Hospitals as of Nov. 1. A graduate of Midwestern University, Dr. Baldwin joined Munson Healthcare in 2022 after 3 years practicing in Chicago. |

William Britton, MD — Emergency Medicine Medical Director, Traverse City William Britton, MD, has agreed to stay on in the role of Emergency Medicine Medical Director for Munson Medical Center. A graduate of Michigan State University, Dr. Britton completed EM Residency training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. He joined the medical staff of Munson Medical Center in 2018 and has been MMC's Emergency Medicine Medical Director since 2022. |

Bevin Clayton, DO — Retiring Emergency Medicine Medical Director, Charlevoix and Gaylord "We appreciate Dr. Bevin Clayton for his leadership at Charlevoix and Otsego Memorial hospitals, leading our Emergency Medicine programs and working in partnership with other service lines. We wish him the best as he transitions into retirement, full time!"

Rebecca A. Hess, MD — Emergency Medicine System Chair A University of Michigan graduate for both medical school and emergency medicine residency, Dr. Hess started her career at Munson Healthcare in 2020 as an Emergency Department physician. She quickly became a respected colleague and leader. She currently serves as the Chief of Staff at Grayling Hospital, as well as the medical director for both Grayling and Cadillac Emergency Departments. Dr. Hess has been involved in numerous system-wide initiatives that have enhanced patient care throughout northern Michigan. Dr. Hess’ vision and experiences will ensure success as we integrate and unify Munson Healthcare's emergency services. She will dually report to Dr. Joe Santangelo, Munson Healthcare Chief Medical, Quality, and Safety Officer, and Dr. Mike Fry, SCP Health Group Medical Officer. |

Shannon Moeggenborn, NP — System APP Lead for Emergency Medicine A graduate of Graceland University, Shannon started her career as a nurse practitioner in gastroenterology and trauma acute care surgery. After 26 years with MHC, she has worked in Munson Medical Center's Emergency Department for the past 7 years. Shannon will report to Dr. Rebecca Hess, MHC Emergency Medicine System Chair.

Michael (Scott) Pirkle, MD — Emergency Medicine Medical Director, Gaylord A graduate of LSU School of Medicine, Dr. Pirkle completed EM Residency training at Eastern Virginia Medical School where he served as Chief Resident. Prior to joining Munson Healthcare in 2021, he served as Medical Director and Chief of Staff at North Shore Medical Center in Miami, Fla. and Medical Director of Emergency Services at Ascension St. Clare Medical Center outside Indianapolis, Ind. Most recently, Dr. Pirkle was Regional Medical Director for ECI and SCP Healthcare. He continues to serve as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Andrew Weise, MD — Emergency Medicine Medical Director, Charlevoix A Michigan native, Dr. Weise graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed EM residency training at Henry Ford Hospital. Prior to joining Munson Healthcare in 2020, Dr. Weise practiced 10 years in Grand Rapids with leadership roles, including medical director and physician group president, in addition to his clinical roles. He has worked in rural critical access hospitals across Michigan and Arizona. In addition to his EM experience, Dr. Weise also has experience in utilization review/management. |
