New MFA Login and Authentication Process Coming July 30

New MFA Login and Authentication Process Coming July 30
07.17.2024

Effective Tuesday, July 30 at 10 am, a new layer of login security will be added for everyone accessing Munson Healthcare systems via Imprivata. Users will be required to enter either a 6-digit code (Checkpoint VPN or Storefront) or a 2-digit code (all other systems) from the Imprivata ID app.

When accessing Checkpoint or Storefront, the Imprivata ID app will no longer prompt you to log in. You will need to manually open the Imprivata app to find the code that will allow you access to MHC systems. Workforce members who receive SMS/text messages or use T-codes for authentication will not be impacted.

What you’ll need to do when logging in:

  • Ensure your Imprivata ID mobile app is up to date.
  • Enter your username and password into a system login, then when prompted, open your Imprivata ID mobile app.
    • Checkpoint and Storefront will then prompt for an Imprivata ID Token Code. Token Codes cycle every 30 seconds on the Imprivata ID app. Enter the 6-digit code into the on-screen system prompt.
    • A 2-digit code will appear on the system login for systems other than Checkpoint and Storefront. The Imprivata ID app will prompt “Are you accessing your network now?” as shown on the image above. Enter the 2-digit code into the Imprivata ID app and Tap “Yes.”

If you are receiving any unexpected authentication requests, an unauthorized party may be trying to access your account.  Please change your password right away and notify the Help Desk.

When:  Tues., July 30 at 10 am

Who’s affected: People who use the Imprivata ID mobile app to access Munson resources.

Why the change: Several organizations have experienced security incidents from “MFA fatigue” where attackers bombard staff members with multi-factor authentication (MFA) requests. Requiring a number be entered in response to MFA requests reduces the risk of an unauthorized party accessing MHC resources.
