Two Munson Healthcare hospitals were recently named 2022 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital and Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital were among five other hospitals in Michigan to receive the recognition. Both were named Top 100 hospitals by the Chartis Center last year as well.
“Despite the ongoing pandemic and the challenges associated with it, our staff and physicians at Cadillac Hospital and Manistee Hospital continue to give their best to our patients each and every day,” said James Barker, CEO and South Region president for Munson Healthcare. “We’re grateful for their dedication and this recognition. Our communities should be confident that high-quality care remains important and practiced within our facilities.”
The Chartis Group, a healthcare advisory and analytics firm, based in Portland, Maine has developed its Hospital Strength INDEX® to determine the top hospitals based entirely on public data and utilizing 36 independent indicators, the INDEX assesses rural hospitals across eight pillars of performance, including market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial efficiency.
Despite unprecedented adversity brought about by the rural hospital closure crisis, diminishing access to services such as obstetrics, nurse staffing shortages and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, rural providers continue to display resiliency and a steadfast commitment to their communities,” said Michael Topchik, national leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “Honoring the Top 100 is one of the highpoints of our year. We are delighted to recognize the exceptional performance and innovation of this year’s recipients, particularly in light of the extraordinary challenges facing America’s rural health safety net.”
