Women living in the Petoskey area have a close-to-home option for obstetrics and gynecological care with the recent opening of Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital Petoskey Women’s Health.
The new clinic is located at 405 N. Division Road, Suite 2 in Petoskey. Munson Healthcare also operates Charlevoix Women’s Health at 14651 W. Upright St., Charlevoix.
“We are very excited to offer women of Petoskey our full spectrum of OB/GYN services,” said Jim Jeakle, M.D., who along with Rachel Mason, M.D., is providing services at this clinic. “Many of our patients currently travel over 30 minutes to see us, so we are happy to be able to offer them this option.”
“A typical pregnant woman will have about 13 prenatal appointments,” Dr. Jeakle added, “so this will save our patients from a significant amount of travel time.”
The Charlevoix Hospital Birthing Center, offering a tranquil setting with views of Lake Michigan, offers leading-edge obstetrical care.
“We continually work hard to establish safe, up-to-date evidenced based care for patients,” Dr. Jeakle said. “Primary C-section rates have been on the national radar for some time. Healthy People 2020 has set a national goal of lowering the rate to 24.7 percent from the 2007 rate of 27.4 percent. Charlevoix has been ahead of the curve with a primary C-section rate of 13 percent since 2018.”
The clinic also provides comprehensive care to women in all stages of life. This includes minimally invasive surgical options for most gynecologic surgeries.
