Munson Healthcare Foundations, Cowell Family Cancer Center sponsor event

The widow of the late author of a number-one best seller will share insights on her husband and his book “When Breath Becomes Air” at the June 30th National Writer Series event at the City Opera House.

The program, called “An Evening with Lucy Kalanithi, M.D.,” begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by Munson Healthcare Foundations and the Cowell Family Cancer Center.

“When Breath Becomes Air” is a memoir by Paul Kalanithi, M.D., a brilliant neurosurgeon and extraordinary writer who died of lung cancer at age 37. The book offers his thoughts on life during his struggle with the terminal cancer diagnosis. It soared to the top of the New York Times Best Seller list.

Tickets may be purchased through the City Opera House website at cityoperahouse.org, or by calling 231-942-8052. Doors open at 6 pm. There will also be a cash bar, live music, and bite-size delicacies from Morsels.

Each ticket will include a hardcover edition of “When Breath Becomes Air.”
