OMH Foundation Announces Matching Gift Opportunity

OMH Foundation Announces Matching Gift Opportunity
11.28.2017

Gaylord, MI — During this season of gratitude and generosity, the Otsego Memorial Hospital (OMH) Foundation proudly announces a matching gift opportunity from Fifth Third Bank. For every dollar donated to the OMH Building the Future of Local Healthcare Capital Campaign from now through early 2018, Fifth Third Bank will match the donation up to $50,000. This means a $100 donation instantly becomes $200 because of Fifth Third.

“We are thrilled to partner with OMH and to support the expansion and renovation efforts. Fifth Third Bank serves thousands of families in northern Michigan and their healthcare is important to us. This donation allows us to give back to the communities and families that have supported us for so many years,” said Lori Reichard, Vice President of Fifth Third Bank.

Last June, OMH embarked on a $14.8 million renovation and expansion project to enhance services in the emergency, ambulatory care, and surgical departments. This multi-year expansion project will result in additional emergency exam rooms, larger patient waiting areas, all private pre and post-surgery patient rooms, and additional operating rooms, including a larger operating room to hold the newly acquired da Vinci® Surgical System. The project will include a total of 15,000 square feet of new construction and 17,000 square feet of heavy renovation.

Community support allowed OMH to commence construction in June 2017, and it is anticipated that steel beams should begin to go up before the end of the year, with construction concluding in 2019. To date, $3.8 million has been pledged and given in support of this project, with $200,000 left to raise to reach the fundraising goal of $4 million. Donations have been a critical aspect of this project’s success, allowing OMH to begin construction earlier than anticipated.

“If you have heard about this expansion and renovation project or driven by the hospital and saw the construction and thought about donating, now is the time because your gift will be doubled,” said Kim Biddinger, Development Specialist at OMH. “OMH and Fifth Third have been long time community partners and this matching gift opportunity is a beautiful collaboration.”

In celebration, cookies and refreshments will be available at the Main Street branch in Gaylord on Thursday, November 30th to recognize this exciting donation and Fifth Third’s support of OMH and local healthcare services.
