OMH Receives an “A” for Patient Safety in Fall 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grading
11.06.2017

Gaylord, Mich. — The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. healthcare system, released their fall 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide.  Otsego Memorial Hospital (OMH) received an “A” rating, one of only 19 of the 77 reporting hospitals in Michigan to receive top scores. Fewer Michigan hospitals received top grades this year, emphasizing OMH’s commitment to reducing errors, infections, and accidents that can harm patients.

“This rating is reflective of the OMH commitment to providing consistently high quality care to patients and their families in an ever-changing healthcare market. Our team works hard to ensure we meet the “A” level standards, maintaining the highest level of patient safety, transparency, and overall quality of care. We understand that our rating makes us unique in Michigan and we strive to continue earning top ratings,” said Tom Lemon, CEO at Otsego Memorial Hospital.

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.

“The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade helps shed light on those hospitals that need improvement, but also celebrates those committed to making their communities safer,” said Leah Binder, CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
