Supporting a loved one through a chronic or acute illness can become challenging.

Recognizing that the spouses, partners, family, and friends of the seriously ill need someone to come alongside them from time to time, Betsie Hosick Health & Fitness Center is hosting the free program “Living with the Diagnosis: A Conversation with Care Partners” at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13.

The session will be led by facilitator Carol Luther who served as director of Widowed Persons Service for more than 15 years. She has facilitated grief and loss support groups and seminars around the state.

“Whether the care partner is dealing with an acute situation, or a chronic illness that is a steady march, everyone has sympathy for the person who is ill,” Luther said. “The care partners are not always recognized for their contributions, and they can be dealing with an enormous amount of stress and frustration.”

All care partners are invited to attend the forum and share, learn, and reduce their isolation.

Betsie Hosick Health & Fitness Center is located at 102 Airport Road in Frankfort.
