11.01.2016

Sander Weckstein, M.D., offers free educational program Nov. 16

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD is one of the most common and misunderstood neuropsychiatric disorders.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report the condition affects 11 percent of children and teens. Without proper diagnosis and treatment, most persons with the disorder perform poorly in school, become subject to substance abuse issues, develop symptoms of depression or anxiety, and exhibit antisocial behaviors.

Psychiatrist Sander Weckstein, M.D., has worked with individuals diagnosed with ADHD from their childhood to adult years and will share his experiences treating the disorder at a free program from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Munson Community Health Center’s Rooms A&B. He will discuss how ADHD is diagnosed and optimal treatments which allow individuals with the condition to better manage their symptoms.

Dr. Weckstein is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who has practiced in Traverse City for more than 20 years.

While the program is free and open to the public, registration is requested. For more information or to register, call 231-935-9265 or go to munsonhealthcare.org/mmcclasses.
