Remain Vigilant on Trending Pathogens: Candida Auris
06.08.2023

A Kent County healthcare facility has reported 4 cases of infections caused by candida auris, a drug-resistant fungal pathogen that has a high mortality rate. Keep this pathogen in mind if you have patients with refractory sepsis who have been on broad spectrum antibiotics and have invasive lines.

Please continue to practice antimicrobial stewardship.

Providers are also asked to cooperate if you are contacted by MDHHS as they are closely monitoring these candida auris infections.
