West Shore Healthcare Foundation’s summer fundraiser was a great success, earning net proceeds of $64,000 to support surgical services at West Shore Medical Center. Over 300 people attended this year’s A Shore Thing, held July 31 at Seng’s Marina in Manistee, enjoying an evening of fine dining, dancing, and silent and live auctions.
“Everyone at West Shore Medical Center is grateful for the outpouring of support for our hospital,” said West Shore Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Rachel L. Brooks. “We thank all of our underwriters and donors, everyone who came to A Shore Thing and the many individuals and businesses that donated auction items.”
“All funds stay local to benefit West Shore Medical Center, helping our hospital remain a leader in services and technology,” said Brooks.
Proceeds from this year’s A Shore Thing support the purchase of new anesthesia machines, equipment that plays a vital role in the care of surgical patients. The state-of-the-art technology to be purchased will enhance patient safety by providing continuous monitoring of the patient’s status, including heart rhythm, blood pressure, and blood oxygen level, and serving as ventilators when patients cannot breathe on their own during surgery.
