Orthopedic surgeon, athletic trainer to provide recommendations for participants

West Shore Medical Center’s Sports Medicine program offers free drop-in evaluations for any Manistee County high school athlete with injuries or concerns on specified Monday evenings this fall.

Orthopedic surgeon Mark D’Angelo, D.O., athletic trainer Kevin Kott, ATC, and other professionals will provide their services between 5 - 6 p.m. at the West Shore Medical Center Rehabilitation Department. The clinics will be offered on Sept. 12 and 26; Oct. 10 and 24; Nov. 7 and 21; and on Dec. 12.

“We see this as a way to allay any concerns or point an athlete and his or her family toward the right treatment solution,” Dr. D’Angelo said. “This program will offer evaluations, but this clinic is not set up to provide actual treatments.”

Students under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Questions may be directed to Kott at kot.kev@wsmed.org.

The Rehabilitation Department is located in the lower level of the hospital at 1465 E. Parkdale Ave. in Manistee.
