As part of National Stroke Awareness Month in May, Munson Medical Center offers a mini expo on the disease that each year touches 750,000 Americans.
The stroke expo from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at the Cowell Family Cancer Center will feature a talk from Munson Medical Center Stroke Medical Director Kersti Bruining, M.D., on stroke prevention tips, warning signs to watch for and the latest treatment options. She will speak from 6 - 7 p.m.
Attendees also will be able to talk with representatives of several hospital-affiliated departments about their services. These include:
- Advance Care Planning
- Food and Nutrition
- Mary Free Bed at Munson Medical Center Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
- Brain injury and neurologic rehabilitation services
- Grand Traverse Area Stroke Club
- Munson Healthcare Home Health
- Stroke Community Education
- Munson Community Health Library
- Stroke Nursing Unit
The mini expo is free and open to the public. The program will be in Conference Rooms 1, 2 in the Cowell Family Cancer Center basement.
The cancer center is located at 217 S. Madison St. on Munson Medical Center’s main campus.
