Stroke Club Ponders Medical Wishes: ‘Who Will Speak for You?’
02.27.2019

The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club will hear a presentation on medical wishes and “Who Will Speak for You?” at its meeting from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. on March 13.

The club meets at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster Road in Traverse City.

Munson Medical Center Advance Care Planning Coordinator Stephanie VanSlyke, R.N., will talk about advance care planning and the decisions that are important prior to any medical crisis. Advance care planning involves choosing a person who will carry out one’s wishes when he or she becomes unable to make decisions. It also involves putting one’s wishes in writing in the form of an advance directive.

For more information on the meeting, contact facilitator Melinda Hollands, L.M.S.W., at Munson Medical Center’s Patient Care Management Department at 231-935-6380, or visit munsonhealthcare.org/strokeclub.

The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club is open to the public and meets the second Wednesday of each month. The stroke club offers stroke survivors and support persons the opportunity to learn, share, and connect with one another through speakers, demonstrations, and group discussions.
