The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club will hear “Recovery, Resilience, and a New Normal” at its meeting from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. on November 13.

The club meets at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster Road in Traverse City. The public is welcome.

Retired Munson Healthcare social worker and former Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club facilitator Jim Batsakis, M.S.W., returns to share his unique perspective with the group he once led. Jim survived emergency surgery after a sudden cardiac arrest and will share his story of what happened next.

“Jim has always been an insightful and articulate person,” said facilitator Melinda Hollands, L.M.S.W., Munson Medical Center Patient Care Manager. “Now he can relate to recovery from a serious medical event from a personal as well as professional perspective.”

For more information on the meeting, contact Melinda Hollands at Munson Medical Center’s Patient Care Management Department at 231-935-6380, or visit munsonhealthcare.org/strokeclub.

The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club is open to the public and meets the second Wednesday of each month. The stroke club offers stroke survivors and support persons the opportunity to learn, share, and connect with one another through speakers, demonstrations, and group discussions.
